Cara and Eowynne started a training plan to get Eowynne ready to lead YFL
workshops in Georgina. They also got a Live Journal discussion board running
for the Georgina project. Youth who are involved will be able to connect
with one another and their mentors on-line.

Jeanette Stanfield has been visiting from Australia. We met to spread Brian's ashes at one of his favourite spots and have planned his memorial service for Saturday.

Jo Nelson has been teaching at the Peel District School Board.

Wayne has been working with Manfred to set up secure online payment facilities on our website.

MENA Middle East and North Africa (Egypt):

Mohamed Fekry and team make final preparations for conference on institutional strengthening of Community Development  Organizations in partnership with  Microsoft.

Hala attended consultation meeting at UNDP with the commission for the Legal empowerment of the Poor.

Madeleine and team concluded Training of facilitators in Beni Suef on the citizenship project and the use of  ME BOOK.

Yara Fathy working on  New designs of programs for 2007.

Mohamed Qorany  implementing activities of the alliance for the MDGs in Fayouim, Abdel rahman Mundy, facilitating training of Local Government units in Upper Egypt.

Yassmine Sirry concluded the graduation ceremony of 15  intern youth leaders and managed to  provide them with a variety of employment opportunities in Development agencies.

JAPAN:

Location: Japan and . . .

Shizuyo led a LENS PSP event for SERPENT Co, with 25 IT employees.  Kaoru said they are a bit like us . . . highly dispersed and little time for planning.

Andrew did a second seminar for JAL Academy on cross cultural communications.

Mamiko is getting ready to go to Vietnam, and then to Sri Lanka.

Eiki returned from Indonesia and Shizuyo and Wayne leave for India and Kaoru leaves for Mexico.

We achieved consensus, of those that responded to the email, on the title on the 2008 conference . . .  Unlocking the Potential to Create a new World.  The list of set aside topics are very interesting as well.Now, who wants to work on the conference target audience, outcomes, budget, details of the daily schedule. etc.

PERU:

Completed comprehensive staff planning for the next three months, and got a solid start on all manoeuvres.  The staff is excited about preparing for the survey of the initial 8 valleys, where every village will be documented. 

Recruitment is off to a good start for the January AVANZA PERU formation program, and plans are underway for a new 8 week orientation program for new ICA colleagues and staff in Lima.

ITERLENG ICA South Africa:

Muzi Mbonani, YFL coordinator, is currently in Tanzania representing us at the African ICA's meeting.

Nontlantla Maeteletja, YFL facilitator, has carried out school visit and evaluation in Madiba High School, Kagiso.

We have a new volunteer, Cathie Mbapeh, who has started working with the Training and Research team. We have also been getting volunteer assistance from one of our Board members, Susan Mogari.

We made a sale of 25 sticky walls to Lutheran Communion of Southern Africa for their facilitators.

Thembi Maxamba and Wacheke Maina have been busy working on accreditation of our training courses, which we are aiming to submit by the end of this year.

John Cornwell had a meeting with British High Commission with regard to possible future funding for the YFL programme.

We have submitted a concept note to the Mott Foundation for a funding proposal for the YFL programme.

TANZANIA:

ICA Tanzania conducted training for 3 wards education committees, these committees have been formed by ICA Tanzania for running the ICA Community Education Fund, this fund has been formed through assistance from ICA UK. The training had the aim of empowering the community to take charge of the fund. The formed fund will be special for sponsoring Maasai girls to secondary schools.

ICA Tanzania has hosted African ICA's Directors meeting. The meeting was in Arusha city. Participants were from Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa , Togo and from sister ICA's from UK, USA and Canada
