We have had another dynamic week here, at ICA Canada. David Buwalda who was
just in Il Ngwesi, Kenya, returned with many stories and updates from the
field.
We also worked on our fundraising effort with the Toronto Marathon,
recruiting runners and businesses to help us support the HIV AIDS programs of
the African ICAs.
Our intern Adrienne was able to secure a runner recruitment
day at a local business, and Liz and myself presented the projects of the
African ICAs to a community club called PROBUS.
We also held a marathon practice
run on Monday night, in the hot hot heat.

Conference
Preparation
We started talking with the government to support the 2008
conference. The Ministry of Agriculture said they would be happy to send people
to the working groups, and we may use their name for authorization, so we can
get people from here and there.
JICA said that they may participate in the
conference, and they can participate and join discussions for practitioners
exchange stories.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said they can support visa
applications for those who might find it difficult to come to Japan. We need to
give them lists three or four months in advance, and then MOFA would be happy to
inform to the embassy to give permission the easy way.
We are organizing
volunteer groups to help us for the conference, and meet with them each
month.

conducting strategic planning for the 10 guilds of the vegetable wholesalers
organization -- we should receive a decisiion on those events next Monday as we
facilitate the next phase of the move of their marketplace to a whole new
