AUSTRALIA:

Location: Democratic Republic of Congo

Collaborators in Sydney, South Africa, Sweden and the Democratic Republic of Congo agreed this week to work together to hold the first planning meeting for eye care education in the Congo.  Initiated by ICA member and international development consultant Lucy Hobgood-Brown and her optometrist, Dharshie Jeyaseelan, this meeting will be held in Kinshasa in early July and will be led by the country's national program director for eye care and vision, Dr Makwanga Mankiew.

BANGLADESH:

Location: Dhaka

Azizur Rahman, Prof. Dr. Mahbub and Maria Maguire reviewed the deforestration proposal for Global Forest Coalition funding. Based on Sandy's comments, the proposal will be finalized for sending to GFC in the next week.

Aziz contacted with ICAs in Japan, Nepal, India, Taiwan and ICAI to plan for the 4th Sub-continental ICA gathering in Dhaka during 2-9 December 2007. Dhaka ICA members visited some venues and talked to some organizations for program planning.

Nicolien got much work load at the Embassy and about to leave for her country on a short vacation. On return she is going to meet us to discuss about our work.

CANADA:

This past week, Eowynne has been calling past donors to update them on the work that is being done by ICAs in Africa. Leah Taylor, who is now working on the YFL program, has been preparing a youth intern training program that she will be delivering next week.

Jo Nelson spent the week in Northern Quebec facilitating community meetings in isolated, fly-in only communities for the Cree School Board long term planning initiative.

Duncan Holmes taught Meetings That Work and Group Facilitation to full courses in Vancouver.

John Miller taught Group Facilitation and Facilitated Planning to full groups in Toronto.

Bill Staples taught Facilitating Conciliation in Chicago.

Wayne Nelson completed the new agreement for sponsorship of public courses and the promtion of in-house courses in Saskatchewan with the college - SIAST.

PERU:

Location: 100 Valleys Project

Registrations are rolling in for the next VISION PERU ToP methods training program as the whole team is involved in  visiting agencies who are collaborating with the 100 Valleys Project. 

Ken Hamje spent 3 days at a Alternative Energy conference and found some great new colleagues. 

Last week we found a great community to be the National Demonstration Community for the 100 Valleys Project and this week the mayor joyfully agreed to accept the challenge.

Martin and Ghee facilitated a public PSP training,

Amelia with  Alan and a bit of Jonathan facilitated a great weekend with one of our partners in the youth programme during which they developed a participation strategy for their organisation,

Jonathan did more work with Sightsavers,

Martin facilitated a day with Manchester City Council,

Clare confirmed upcoming ToP courses in Manchester, London and Derry Northern Ireland and our latest Newsletter came out- edited by Derek

UNITED STATES:

Location: Chicago

ICA-USA continues its  restructuring with the hiring of new Constituency Services Associate, Cheryl Zaleski. We are also in the process of hirng a Director of Finance and Asset Management, and expect to have new Executive leadership in place by June 15th.

We are also moving forward with programming for the re-scheduled Living Legacy event, which will be held October 5-7, 2007 in Chicago. Check the ICA-USA web page for updates as they become available.
