Duncan Holmes taught Group Facilitation and Facilitated Planning to full houses in Calgary, Alberta. While there, he had conversations with some of our associates related to establishing an office in western Canada.

John Miller facilitated a planning session with the York University School of Dance and - -  on the next day received a request from another department in the Faculty of Fine Arts. It was the Dean calling.

In Toronto, Jo Nelson taught the Power of Image Change and Designing Powerful Learning events.

Wayne Nelson gave the final exam to his students at Sheridan College.

We're arranging for some of our associates to gain qualification to teach our Group Facilitation and Meetings that Work courses, in order to fulfill requests and extend our services. We find ourselves reaching out to associates more and more as requests for facilitation and training increase.

Introducing ICA Japan's Global Conference Coordinator

Hello, every one!  My name is Yuka Hayashi.  On April 2, I started to work in ICA Japan as a global conference coordinator.  Yes! Im working for THE HUMAN DEVELOPMENT GLOBAL CONFERENCE 2008 which I assume you are most excited about now!   At the conference, we expect over 1,000 participants from all over the world.  Im sure you'll enjoy it and I am very much looking forward to seeing you at the Global Conference 2008, Tokyo! Two Day Exhibition and Vietnam Exchange will Attract Thousands

Just prior to the 2008 Conference, an Exhibition and Vietnam Exchange in Akihabara was designed to provide room for all model projects to tell their stories of communities on the move!

2008 Brochure Break-through!

We are near agreement with ICAI on the text for the brochure!  It is now stated as a challenge to all to be co-creators to unlocking the future.  Later, on the website, we will re-introduce the topics to be discussed, with sufficient detail that a large variety of people will be here to help create the needed new paradigms!

ICA Zimbabwe Partnership Startup

We have received two proposals from ICA Zimbabwe and will match with funding sources by the June deadline.

Vietnam Study Tour for NTT Union Orientation

Naomi Sato completed the orientation training for 15 people from across Japan for the forthcoming trip to build bridges to a village in Vietnam which is on the move thanks to a previous ICA community building workshop.

Architect Sent to Help with Nigeria Vocational School Expansion

A Japanese architect was sent to Lagos to supervise the expansion of a vocational training school, and in May, Shizuyo and Wayne will do forums with Hannah of NIRADO ICA Nigeria to broaden the interest and participation of students and stakeholders.

Women in Japan on the Move

With ICA Japan and Simmons College in Boston taking the lead, three women will receive practical training in Domestic Violence Intervention, Gender Policies Enrichment, and Leadership Development.

NEPAL:

Location: Doti Dadeldhura and Baitadi districts

Project, training and workshop


Last week, ICA Nepal's personnel got themselves busy in project implementation in the field, training facilitation and participation in the seminars.

Hemant Pokhrel and Raju Dahal visited Doti, Dadeldhura and Baitadi districts in order to set up literacy classes, distribute construction materials for low cost toilets, improved cook stoves and waste water management and to raise awareness on environment, health and gender equity.

Tatwa Timsina and Madan Bista left Kathmandu for Kaski district to facilitate training on Capacity Development Initiatives for Health Facility Management Committees. It was a 7 days programme. Similarly, Yogmaya Kandel participated actively in the 3 days National Workshop on Nepali Womens Charter for Equality and contributed the workshop with her knowledge, experience about empowerment of women. Near about 300 women from all over the country attended the programme.

PERU:

Location: 100 Valleys Project

Gloria Santos, Esaud Caycho and Alison Hamje have launched the national marketing campaign for the !VISION PERU! series of 4-day ToP training programs for the staff of the collaborating organizations in the 100 Valleys Project.  The first program for 20 people is scheduled for 7-10 May and as soon as it is filled we will announce the next one for two weeks later.  This program will create real working colleagues out of the 51 other NGOs and agencies we are working with on the Project, plus just two programs per month supports the staff and ICA budget.

UNITED KINGDOM:

Martin has been busy marketing, Amelia working on the Youth programme including a session with Engaging Cogs- getting young people discussing engineering- are we moving fast enough?

Jonathan facilitated a session with a Local Strategic Partnership, did more Sightsavers work, researched more funders for EToPToT, heard that we did not make it to Stage Two for an EU grant to Tanzania, but that Elton John would fund at least part of the impact assessment of Living Well in Kenya and Uganda
