WithIn the framework of project activities in the field, ICA-CI, despite the situation of COVID 19 is always in telephone contact with the beneficiaries of each village to motivate them.

To wash your hands at a lower cost

Our teams go on visits but in a spaced manner for health measures that this pandemic requires worldwide.

Our communications relate to the barrier measures which are currently the only effective remedies against this coronavirus. So to allow our beneficiaries to practice hand washing regularly and with equipment at a lower cost, we recommend the use of empty oil cans with a tap as shown in this image.

Also, thanks to the BCP-Emploi project made available to our 200 beneficiaries of the Association Villageoises d'Epargne et de Crédit project, a grant of more than eight million CFA francs to finance their micro project. Regarding the project funded by MOFA thanks to ICA Japan, the situation regarding coronavirus has had a serious impact on our beneficiaries who raise chickens, because the total confinement of Greater Abidjan which is the most affected area, no longer favours the pursuit of this activity. The consequences are hard-hit by the whole population, the supply of food for the chickens is slowed down, and also with the level of technical unemployment suffered by private workers, which causes enormous difficulty for the marketing of agricultural and poultry products.

For the Japanese chickens (Momiji) they always have a good egg production, only the situation with coronavirus now greatly affects the production of chicks for the raising of laying chickens by our beneficiaries who also undergo the effects of confinement which forces everyone to restrict movement.

Hand wash for the fight against coronavirus

But for palm plantations we are in a very good period with the rainy season which has started and also with the production of these palm trees which begins now, we hope that by next year they will have a good harvest.

Our life has changed a lot due to this virus which kills in all countries of the world, causing the putting on the streets of several people on all continents.

ICA-CI staff in their daily prayers implore the almighty God to allow researchers to be able to find a remedy that will cure sick people and also prevent so that there are no more infected people.

NEPAL:

News from ICA Nepal

The Government of Nepal has announced the nationwide lockdown until 7 May, 2020. ICA Nepal team is working virtually during this time.

At the request of ICA Nepal, Larry Philbrook from ICA Taiwan facilitated Focused Conversation for ICA Nepal staff and associates. The training was co-facilitated by Evelyn Philbrook, Jorie Wu, Jackie Chang and Eric Tseng. The training was carried out online using various tools and applications.

Although the training was conducted online for the first time, we were able to actively participate in all sessions. The training highlighted on how focused conversation can be undertaken using ORID tools and provided ample opportunities for all the participants to practice the ORID methods. The training was participated by Tatwa P.Timsina, Hare Ram Bhattarai, Ishu Subba, Priyanka Ghimire, Yunusha Kafle, Sushil Mahato, Binod Nepal, Janardan Ghimire, Rupendra Maharjan, Prem Lamichhane , Miyuki Tsujii (ICA Japan), and Archana Deshmukh (ICA India).

In addition, we are also working on the preparatory activities of community development project in Sindhupalchowk district. Currently we are working on document preparation, local staff mobilization and awareness raising in COVID-19. We are also exploring likeminded organization to expand  the awaress in COVID-19. We have approched CIVICUS to spread the right information too in relation to the prevention and spread of COVID-19 in Nepal, to the most marginalized and vulnerable communities.
